GUSTAV MAHLER CHOR, Vienna
In the composer’s 100th year of death, the Gustav Mahler Choir Vienna was founded 2011, on the maestro’s birthday,  July 7th. Thomas Lang, choir director of the Vienna Opera House, was appointed to be artistic chief.
At present the young vocal ensemble – currently consisting of 44 singers from 18 nations  – is developing its unique artistic profile among the dense and quality-focused Viennese choir scene. The Gustav Mahler Choir made its debut at the Vienna Opera House under maestro Ivor Bolton in the re-production of “Alceste” by Chr.W.Gluck. It was a fulminant success. Further concerts in the field of choral symphonic works are intended.
